Founded in 1993, Windhorse is a semi-residential program for adults (18+) suffering from life-disrupting mental states. Our clients live longer-term in a two-bedroom apartment or home with a therapeutic housemate and are supported by a compassionate, integrated clinical team. At the heart of Windhorse our program is the belief that healing happens through authentic relationships and a supportive community. How this is done offering a community-based model of recovery that’s holistic, client-centered, and grounded in mindfulness. Our approach is designed for long-term healing, with a minimum commitment of 6 months and an average treatment duration of 18 months.
Our structured framework addresses what is missing in most institutional settings: ✅ 40+ hours per week of one-on-one support from a dedicated, mindfulness-informed team (5–7 members). ✅ Each client lives with a therapeutic housemate in a shared home environment. ✅ Support levels are responsive to a client’s evolving needs. ✅ Clients co-create their treatment journey and choose how they engage with the broader community. ✅ Families are integral members of the treatment team. ✅ Treatment integrates all aspects of life—home, relationships, education, and well-being. ✅ Emphasis on interpersonal connection and authentic, mutual relationships as the foundation for healing and reintegration. ✅ Focus on interpersonal connection and mutual recovery rather than isolation and pathology.
Authentic relationships are formed within Windhorse as a foundation for creating meaningful connections in the greater community outside of Windhorse.
