About me
Toshiko Kobayashi is a Board-Certified Art Therapist, Clinical Supervisor, and the founder of Expressive Origami Therapy (EOT). Kobayashi has dedicated her career to integrating traditional cultural practices with trauma-informed care. She served as a Senior Art Therapist and Clinical Supervisor at the Bronx Psychiatric Center , where she spearheaded the Trauma Program for Staff and utilized origami to treat patients with complex PTSD and severe extreme states. Kobayashi has brought her pioneering origami therapy to diverse global populations, including survivors of natural disasters in Japan, psychiatric inpatients, and marginalized communities. An active member of ISPS since 2019 , she continues to lecture globally, advocating for EOT as a compassionate, non-verbal bridge to de-pathologize clinical relationships, repair relationships, and foster resilience within families and communities.
