About me
Patrick Kaufmann works at Recovery Institute of Southwest Michigan, an organization that contracts with Kalamazoo Psychiatric Hospital. He applies his first-hand experience to connect with patients not only having been hospitalized there long term but also specifically as a voice hearer. He has worked as a peer on a Navigate Team that based services on RAISE trials, implementing approaches that focused on encouraging reconnection into the community as opposed to dependency on the system and forced treatment. He feels grateful to have received training specific to psychosis diagnosed individuals from leaders in the movement including Ron Unger, Charlie Heriot-Maitland, and Oryx Cohen. Patrick is currently writing a 7-part memoir series about his experience as a voice hearer.
