Nev Jones, PhD, is Associate Professor at the University of Pittsburgh School of Social Work, Director of PathLab, and affiliate faculty in the Department of Psychiatry and Institute for Bioethics. Her research examines coercive psychiatric treatment, early psychosis services, and the role of lived experience in mental health policy and services. She has conducted extensive qualitative and mixed-methods research on civil commitment and assisted outpatient treatment. Her work is largely funded by the NIMH and NSF and is grounded in critical mental health frameworks that center survivor perspectives, epistemic justice, and structural analysis of public psychiatric systems. Dr. Jones is a longstanding advocate for meaningful inclusion of people with lived experience in research, policy, and service design, and has published and presented widely on the harms and limitations of coercive psychiatric practices.
