About me
Laura López-Aybar is a critical psychology psychiatric survivor, lived experience researcher, and professor with a PhD from Adelphi University. Her work is propelled by a critical, decolonial, and feminist perspective on psychology. She is a survivor of childhood abuse and trauma and gender-based violence.Moreover, she currently leads various projects examining stigma, mental health discourse, and social determinants of health. She co-founded Mad in Puerto Rico and works as a research scientist at New York State Psychiatric Institute. She is a mother, spouse, and pet companion. She enjoys traveling, gardening, and watching good and bad TV, among many other interests.
