About me
Kristen Koniuch is originally from Long Island, New York. She holds bachelor’s degrees in Public Health and Policy Studies from Syracuse University and is currently pursuing a master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling with a specialization in Expressive Arts Therapy at Lesley University.
Kristen has spent the past two and a half years volunteering with NAMI-NYC as an In Our Own Voice (IOOV) Presenter, where she shares her recovery story with diverse audiences. She has also served as a 988 crisis intervention chat worker, providing emotional support to individuals experiencing mental health crises. She holds a provisional peer support certification and is an incoming NAMI IOOV Trainer.
Kristen serves on NAMI New York State’s Advisory Committee for the Schizophrenia Comprehensive Care Initiative. As a voice hearer, she is deeply passionate about spirituality and expressive arts as tools for self-exploration, empowerment, and healing, and is committed to advancing holistic approaches to mental health care. In her free time, she enjoys writing poetry and creating visual art and music.
