About me
Jessica Garrelts is a doctoral student in the Clinical Psychology program at Indiana State University. She earned her bachelor’s degree in chemistry with a minor in biology from Butler University in Indianapolis, IN in 2018. She later earned her master’s degree in psychology from the University of Indianapolis in 2025. Her research interests center on serious mental illness populations, particularly within the correctional system, with distinct interests in social and self-stigmas as well as variations in metacognitive capacity. Her career aspirations involve improving access, dignity, and evidence-based care within systems that often marginalize those with SMI.
