About me
Wenmao Ma is a mental health advocate, lived experience researcher, and peer support practitioner from China. Over the past decade, he has been actively involved in promoting recovery-oriented mental health services, self-advocacy, and social inclusion for people with lived experience of mental distress. He was part of the founding team of a peer-led mutual support organization in Changsha, where he helped develop peer support networks, community programs, and public anti-stigma initiatives. His work emphasizes hope, agency, dignity, and meaningful participation in recovery.In recent years, Wenmao Ma has focused on integrating innovation and lived experience knowledge into mental health practice. His current interests include psychosis from a lived experience perspective, recovery pathways, peer support models, and the use of artificial intelligence (AI) and virtual reality (VR) in mental health care.
