Sundance award-winning filmmaker and media artist Jennifer Abbott creates rigorously crafted, politically engaged works—spanning documentary cinema, virtual reality, and installation—that disrupt dominant narratives, upend the status quo, and invite new ways of seeing. Best known for The Corporation, The Magnitude of All Things, and The New Corporation, Abbott’s work has been seen by millions and recognized with over forty-five international awards, with measurable cultural impact in classrooms, legislatures, galleries, public exhibition spaces, and social movements. Her most recent work, The Forest That Breathes Us (2025), is a 360° immersive film that premiered at CPH:DOX and continues to screen internationally. Her current project, The Shape of Air, centres her son — a remarkable Cree artist treated for schizophrenia who died in 2025 from the side-effects of a state-mandated psychiatric medication — tracing the violence where colonization and psychiatry meet.
