About me
Emese Ilyés, PhD, is a Doctoral Lecturer in Psychology at John Jay College of Criminal Justice, City University of New York, where she teaches liberation psychology, research methods, and participatory action research. Her scholarship centers on decolonial methodologies, community resistance to authoritarianism, and the politics of knowledge production. She is a TLC Faculty Fellow coordinating the AI + Positionalities Learning Communities initiative and Faculty Advisor for the Psychology Peer Academic Support System (PASS). She is President-Elect of the Society for Theoretical and Philosophical Psychology (APA Division 24). A scholar-activist and public writer, she brings her own history as a Székely-Hungarian child refugee from Romania into dialogue with her commitments to liberatory education and solidarity.
