About me
Adam Christoferson is a singer-songwriter and the founder and executive director of Musical Intervention, a Connecticut-based nonprofit and creative studio that uses music-making as a tool for mental health recovery, connection, and community transformation. His work sits at the intersection of artistry and science, in partnership with Yale University, the Connecticut Mental Health Center, and the State of Connecticut Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services, where he helps lead research exploring how collaborative songwriting can honor and heal individuals struggling with serious mental health issues. For over 25 years, Adam has facilitated music based groups in clinical and community settings, using songwriting and creative expression to help individuals build confidence, process emotion, and find their voice. As an artist, Adam has long used songwriting as a personal and expressive outlet, a practice that ultimately became the foundation for Musical Intervention. Since opening to the public in 2016, the organization has grown into an internationally recognized model for community music-based mental health support, offering a safe, substance-free space for people to write, record, and perform.Adam is also the winner of ABC’s Claim to Fame Season 3, and brings both lived experience and creative leadership to conversations about resilience and the transformative power of music.
