Madness and the Social Link: Forty Years of Our Paris Seminar (Hybrid)

For forty years, Francoise Davoine and Jean-Max Gaudilliere co-led a weekly seminar at the Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales in Paris, alternating leadership annually.  The Seminar was wide-ranging, focusing on literary and historical themes and on the social context of madness, with an ongoing focus on war trauma as seen through the lives of writers and the characters they created.  Francoise will offer an overview of the issues discussed there, including her personal reflections on this multiple-decades-long exploration of madness and the social link.
